OATMEAL BANANA BREAD

Oatmeal Banana Bread

"I’m sorry I just couldn’t.  I’m watching my figure."

Unfortunately, this is an all too common response in our modern world.  People want to look good and one of the easiest ways for them to do that is by denying themselves the pleasure of their favourite foods.

That is why I created King Arthur’s Table Oatmeal Banana Bread using my own special recipe, which calls for low cholesterol eggs and less sugar.  On top of all that, My Oatmeal Banana Bread is a good source of fiber.

So, instead of punishing yourself to keep that perfect look, reward yourself with some of my scrumptious Oatmeal Banana Bread.

Banana bread that tastes good and keeps you looking good as well!  Food fit for a King indeed!

BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS

One big tradition in my Batak family is preparing lavish meals on special days like Christmas.  My siblings and I would look forward to special dinner where plenty good food was served. Ayam semur (chicken cooked in rich variety of spices), rendang (beef chunk in deep spicy creamy coconut milk), soup, kakap asam manis, sayur urap (mixed vegetables with coconut) and the must have and also my favourite, the bistik (meatloaf). I remember when I was a kid, I always liked watching my mother preparing all those meals. I liked asking questions and I was so happy when my mother involved me helping in the kitchen. As I grew older, my mother only supervised. I took charge in the kitchen even to bake cake and cookies. When family or friends liked my cake and cookies, I would be very happy. All that hard work and long hours working in front of the stove was paid off. I think that’s the beginning where my skill came from. I love cooking! I enjoy making nice food and meals.

But it was another whole different story when I had my first Christmas half way around the world with my husband’s parents and family. I was astonished with their Southern tradition as I like to call it. Little did I know that my first Christmas among his family would make me fall even deeper in love with food. Christmas is the most special celebration and everybody was busy. As the big day approached, we enjoyed cutting down our first Christmas tree, shopping for presents but most of all preparing for the upcoming Christmas feast.

Finally, the big day arrived.  The table was full of wonderful Christmas favourites presented every Christmas. Some were certainly new to my taste. But I tell you, I think I liked them all. Freshly juicy baked ham. Stuffed turkey. Chicken with bread crumbs. Sweet potato casserole.  Potato salad. Mashed potato. Deviled eggs. Green Beans. Cranberry sauce.  And more. All were prepared with care, with best ingredients and certain techniques that had been mastered so perfectly and passed on from one generation to the next. I knew right in there that I needed to learn to make each one of them. But anyway it was so much food and it took a couple days to finish it all.

Most importantly, it formed a lasting memory in my mind of food that was prepared with the utmost care and attention.  Food that has highly been appreciated and has become family tradition. Food that was prepared with more than skill and culinary expertise but with love and dedication, the type of food I wanted to make.

That is the vision and mission of King’s Arthur Table.  Our hope and desire is that we can serve you confections that are more than technically delicious.  We want you to taste the love, dedication and care we put into every sweet that we produce.  I may have had to return to Indonesia after that Christmas but that Christmas is still a part of me and everything we do here at King Arthur’s Table.

Oh!  I forgot to mention my Mother in Law’s fudge and tasty moist lemon pound cake!  I brought them back from America too.  Only available at King Arthur’s Table!

CLASSIC BANANA BREAD

A big loaf of banana bread

Banana Bread

I’ll admit I love bananas.

The smell.
The texture.
The taste.

As an Indonesian, I’ve grown up in a land of great diversity.  One of the greatest blessings Indonesia has been given is its great variety of fruit.  Fortunately for all of us, Indonesia has a large assortment of banana species within its territorial borders.  What does that mean to me?  A lot of banana bread possibilities!

One of the first recipes I mastered when I opened up King Arthur’s Table was, you guessed it, banana bread.  I spent so much time mixing, baking, experimenting and decorating in an effort to perfect the recipe for my family and for you.

And I believe I’ve done it.

So why don’t you give my experiment a grade today and order some of my tasty banana bread.

Warning!  You may fall in love with bananas too.

CAKE BALLS

These cute round treats have caught their fans.  Kids love them. Adults fancy them. They come in beautiful colors and flavors.

King Arthur's Table has rolled them around. And guess what? These cake balls have taken their place among the audience. Will you dare to challenge? Just order a box, to give it a try. These fancy balls will roll in front of your door and you'll be falling in love. Hmmm... it's crunchy at the outside then just creamy chocolaty and moist in the inside.

Will you say "No!" to this naughty cute balls? Absolutely not!

About ARTHUR'S HOMEMADES

"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." J.R.R. Tolkien

I think almost everyone loves sweets. While two people may find no other common ground to stand on, they can still both savour the same mouth-watering chocolate cake and proclaim their absolute adoration for it despite all their other differences.

That is the true power of food. It draws us together throughout the day to share a passion common to us all. A fondness for the delicious. And so therefore eating often transcends base need, even exalting itself to the point of celebration and companionship. Indeed, when we decide to congregate either with friends or family, what is often our chief concern? What language do we speak? Of course, food and drink. And if at all possible, the best we can afford.

We understand this simple truth evidenced by the actions of men throughout time and echoed by their words recorded both past and present. So, whether you need a cake to celebrate a momentous event in a loved one’s life, a batch of chocolate cookies to snack on during a meeting with friends or business partners or a tin of fudge to show appreciation to a friend or colleague, we are here to meet your needs.

Arthur’s Homemades. A shared passion for delectable sweets. A shared concern for improving relationships. A shared vision for making each of life’s important events a true celebration.
